CD-Welding
through
capacitor discharge

CD-welding is a modified resistance welding process. The process is characterized by a high reproducibility of each weld and low operating costs. The process is carried out by a combination of mechanical pressure and electrical energy, whereby both quantities are kept constant by control circuits. It is important to concentrate the electricity as much as possible, in order to avoid unnecessary heat loss.

How
it
works

In this process, the welding energy is collected in the storage capacitor [C] and then discharged via a high-performance thyristor [V] into the welding transformer [T], which then generates on the secondary side the high-current impulse of several 100,000 A, lasting only milliseconds. Suitable welding humps ensure a high contact resistance and force the energy flow to this small contact surface of the welded parts. As a result, a high current density is achieved, which causes the welding hump to melt, and the mechanical pressure finally ensures a uniform structure at the welded joint.

offer you
the following
advantages:

1 OPERATING COST REDUCTION -Low energy costs, due to low consumption during welding
-Low grid connection values by buffering the energy in capacitors
-Long electrode life due to low thermal load
-High Welding Clock Sequence

2 QUALITY INCREASE
-low component distortion thereby very high repeat accuracy
-100% process monitoring allows fully automated welding
Control / logging of every welding possible

3 SAVING WORK STEPS
-low heating of workpiece spares the effort of setting
-Surface Preservation Eliminates Post-Treatment
-Material properties remain largely preserved, often no annealing is necessary

4 WELDING COATED MATERIALS
-Components with electrically conductive coatings,
e.g. zinc or chrome layers, can be welded almost without damage
-Finished or one-sided plastic coated components are available

5 WELDING DIFFERENT MATERIALS
-Welding of different material combinations possible
-Welding of sheets with different material thickness (up to 1: 500)
-Welding of materials with high thermal and electrical conductivity
-Welding of metal foil

Welding machines

Over the years, the production of resistance welding machines and especially the field of capacitor discharge welding machines was included in the production. It is the most energy-efficient process that has been used for decades in various industries in the production process. As an innovative company, we have set ourselves the task of further improving the efficiency of the machines.

Are my parts weldable?

You can find it out quickly, if you tell us: your task, send drawings of the parts to be welded and make material specifications of the workpieces. If, after the first test, it is indeed an appropriate task for our process, we also make a practical proof by welding your parts in our application laboratory, according to your instructions. You can then check the results back at your company.

Maschinenbau

Unsere Aktivitäten erstrecken sich von der Planung & Projektierung bis hin zur Fertigung und Montage von KE-Schweissmaschinen, Laserschneid- und Laserschweissanlagen, sowie kundenspezifischen Sondermaschinen.
